Xordiah talks about the Beta | Nov 12th, 03:40am | |

It seems we finally got an answer regarding the Beta dilemma, and if it will only affect Russia. Seems it affects everyone, and a big thanks to Santrega for the question. There are many answers, so I will separate them without the questions being asked, refer to the original topic for more info.
It seems we also got an answer on why updates are sparce, stop complaining to Blizzard! Source: Battle.net |

Excellent. You should post the blue responses in the OP as well!
I hope people posting on the SC2GDF, learn how to post questions there if they want an answer. Geez people on that forum (and this one) act like Blizzard owes them something. Like it is their right to have updates from Blizzard, and they are obligated to comply. How stupid. It's like getting angry at a painter cos he's taking too long to paint HIS painting. Honestly, we're lucky that they are even making the game and giving us BR's. They certainly don't have to. |

Very good find indeed.
Also, did everyone else also note that Xordiah gives us a "hint" and it says it has to do with their second Core? I think this again has to do with batlle.net 2.0... GEAR!!!! help those guys overthere will ya? XD
Please judge my speech! Will be using this in serious contest! |

Second core is their "Core values", it isn't game related. Heres a list of their core values: http://us.blizzard.com/en-us/company/about/mission.html |

Thanks for the news update, Raspy! That should at least clear up the confusion about beta being affected only by this country and that country. This is probably fair for all of the players around the world at best, since nobody should be left hanging for 5 or more months should beta gotten released.
Edit: Just read the second core value that blizz has; I think alot of people are going to remember how late this game comes out by the time it does come out, lol. Oh well, its at least a win-win situation for both parties.

Blizzard said this? Seems kind of childish way to avoid giving updates. Blizzard should not use that crap as an excuse to not give updates. Personally I want to know every hp/damage tweak they make when they make it so i can help build my super-amazing strategies. I don't mind them delaying the Beta as long as they keep updating us...
Its time to say GG starcraft, you are morphing into a Lair

As expected of Blizzard. Delays only means more time to reiterate. Perfectionist they are and it is a good thing to have as developers. I myself do not care how long it takes, but as long as they come out at the end and prevails then it is all worth the wait. Patience is virtue after all!
Bnet 2.0 alone is exciting for me.. When it comes out, I'll probably be on it every time my computers starts up.. :) Blizzard, keep up the good work! |

Childish? Why should they have to keep sending us small updates if they go largely unappreciated and get nearly the same response every time? That's not to say these updates wouldn't be appreciated, but for the most part people won't be satisfied unless they do some sort of big announcement. |

"Three completely distinct races: Protoss, Terran, and Zerg"
"I think everyone here in the forums is aware of why it is taking so long even if you are impatient with us because of it. I'll give you a hint: It has something to do with our second core value. :)" um... the first quote is off of the official site as their 2nd key feature for the game. the second is what x said. either theyre reworking the zerg or making something grand......the fabled fourth race.
boom.

Who are these people not caring about updates?
If you get more replays out there of good games, people will be held over. Show us interesting strategies, show us different units being used in new and exciting ways. It wouldn't take much time or effort and the majority of people would be pleased. Nobody wants an unfinished game, or to have complaints that could have been seen to given a few more months of pre-beta work. Everyone is waiting, and has been waiting since May 2007, for this game--I can't imagine potential buyers being turned away by some classic Blizzard delays. That being said, it's important to keep future players intrigued by what's going on behind Blizz HQ until Beta, and up until release. The battle reports have done an excellent job of accomplishing that thirst to know more about the game than can be shared through Q & A batches or interviews. Being able to see the game grow and develop (proving to people why so much time has been needed and how far the SC2 developers have come) is paramount. Also, about the hint: Dustin said a while back that the Zerg needed some major improvements in tier 2. I wouldn't be surprised if they reworked a lot of the mechanics. There were a number of units they felt they couldn't remove due to their being so classic: zergling, hydralisk, mutalisk, ultralisk, etc. The recycling of that many units couldn't really compete with the a) ability to perform and b) visual intrigue of the [vastly] newly improved Terran and Toss. Something needed to be done and I'm really glad they're seeing to it. |

I am pretty sure there was a statement by one of the Blizzard officials stating Beta will certainly start in 2009. I'm too lazy to provide an exact link currently. I'm okay with the delay; I'll most probably finish my uni until SC2 comes out, so yay for that. It's just that statement about SC2 Beta starting in 2009 for sure, followed by another saying completely the opposite, which was outrageous. |

I agree with that statement, I think the Blizz people are getting quite mad with our whinign for Beta.
