At this point in time, the Reaper is the least used infantry unit in the Terran arsenal. It is weak and its only purpose right now is for base raiding, but that may be tricky when the Reaper can jump a cliff and land face to face with an enemy. I propose that the Medics Flare ability be given to the Reaper. This will allow Reapers to improve their scouting capabilities and also ensure an easier raid. They can use their flare over a region of cliff they wish to advance; if the coast is clear they will proceed but if the flare reveals an enemy army, find another route. Giving the Reaper an additional ability/role will give it a more defined place in the Terran arsenal.

Ohh, that's an interesting idea. So really, it's more like a Hunter's Flare in World of WarCraft, than the Medic's Optical Flare, if I'm understanding you correctly, in that it reveals an area on the map rather than blinding a unit. If this is the case, then would it reveal cloaked or burrowed units, or just normally visible units? The latter seems like it'd be much more reasonable than the former. If it could reveal cloaked or burrowed units, it would undoubtedly have to be limited by a specific number of charges, so Terrans wouldn't have an inexpensive, "free" detector in the form of the Reaper.

In any case, it would make a Reaper a decent scout, as long as it's faster than the revamped Jackal.

When I saw the heading of this topic I was like What??! But I really like this idea, I am all for it, good thinking.

And i do not see why they do not use it that much, I bet once the pros get at it, it will be one of the most used units.

Oh okay, so it is like a Hunter's Flare in WoW (minus revealing stealthed/cloaked/burrowed units). Cool.

The idea sounds fine and all but... i really dont think that this is what's gonna make the reaper a more oftenly used unit if applied...but that's me ofc.

maybe they could shoot a flare gun, so basically they can fire a flare within a range, and then the area they chose would be revealed. makes it a little more useful.

While I don`t find this ability particularly useful, it certainly beats adding the Medivac Dropship.

I'm all for it, but I kinda have to wonder if this makes the Terran a bit overpowered. I mean, having both the Medic and the Reaper have the same ability to reveal an area along with the Surveillance Station... thats pretty much overkill. But how about this: leave the Medic with the current flare ability and give the Reapers a modified flare ability that basically acts like a smaller portable Sensor Tower.

But do the Reapers really need this? Can't they just jump to higher ground and scout out the land that way without the flare ability? We could just do this: give the Reaper a higher move speed so that if it encounters unexpected enemies it can just retreat and go around them.
