Horribly written and horribly produced. Only people with absolutely no taste would enjoy it (or if it is the only series you've ever read in your life).
Twilight is for fucktards. Period. I would engage you in a battle of wits but I refuse to duel with an unarmed person. |

(considers a third audible gasp, reconsiders and decides that the novelty has already worn off) Dinobot makes a good point. There are other awful movies. But really, how can such a stupid/dumb/idiotic/emo book/movie be so loved by swarms of preteen girls? (points at swarms of impressionable preteen girls) Darn you! darn you all to heck!!!
If the book in any way resembles the movie, then the book sucks as well and as a result there is no reason anyone should like it and there never should have been a movie. Lets look at Lord of the Rings (hesitates to talk about LOTR and Twilight in the same paragraph, renews resolve and continues)... Epicly awesome books translate into epicly awesome movies (if Peter Jackson is directing). Epicly fail books (Twilight, New Moon) translate into epicly fail movies (it would have been good if Peter Jackson directed it). My faith in humanity crumbles every time I hear or see someone who actually likes Twilight, New Moon, etc. At least with other awful movies people don't actually claim that they are awesome (in most cases). |

are you serious? the all mighty gearv0sh? meh everyone has their own tastes.... the only way i would like it is if mel brooks made it and it was a comedy. like Robin Hood: men in tights, space balls and Dracula: dead and loving it. @ dorkmaster: thats the thing, its the general public. they love the mindless drivel that is everywhere, they like the movies that are crap and dont really make much sence, they like the music that is stupid (some stolen beat and absolutely retarded lyrics like im on a boat) and they wear the ridiculously over priced cloths that fall apart after 2 days. |

^Then this thread should be about the general/popular public and how they easily swoon for the market. The movies itself is not to blame. What's stopping me from legitimately creating a thread for every terrible movie out there?
The only reason we hate this movie more is because it's getting money. Twilight itself is not to blame, no matter how stupid it is. It is no different than any other horrible movie. |

Wow... So much hate in one topic. I can't say I know much about twilight, except that the vampires... No, I won't say suck... Eh, are rediculous. But come on, no one owns the concept of vampires, they are mythological creatures. If you write something about vampires, you make your own rules about how they work. BTW, I think the evolution of the vampire concept is reminiscent of the evolution of the elf concept. Elfs have also been turning more and more... Let's say "metrosexual", of late.
... And why is being called a girl such a terrible insult...? |

Quadtriple Audible gasp. The great gearv0sh like twilight, OMFG.
Yeah, everyone is right. The vampires in this one looks really gay, and are f*cking retarded. Today I'm going to the cinemas and hopefully it will be good. If its not, meh.

Gear's trollin'
Everybody hates Twilight because it was very poorly written, the movie had shitty acting (so I'm told) and ONLY liked by preteen/some teenage girls.

Movie was garbage
Acting was horrible. Bella looked stoned throughout the whole movie. From what I heard, she was supposed to be sad and confused but to me, she just looked stoned. I have no problem with the story, its just that the director and the actors do such a shitty job. |

People don't dispise Twilight because it's garbage. We despise it because everywhere you go, people are exclaiming just how amazing it is. Moreover, people continually compare the novel to novels with actual substance.
For instance, I've heard several times that Twilight is the new Harry Potter. Now, I'm not a fan of Harry Potter and I personally think most of the movies suck (although I didn't mind one of the middle ones). However, I can actually see something in the franchise. I understand why people might like it, it's just not my taste. Twilight on the other hand, is complete and total trash. There was a girl in my highschool who wrote and had published Romance novels that had more substance (and they weren't very good and she knew it). If people just liked it, no one would have any issues about it. I mean, we'd still make fun, but the hate would be immensely dispersed. It's more of the "OMG TWILIGHT IS THE GREATEST THING! TWILIGHT MAKES THE DARK NIGHT LOOK LIKE CRAP!!!!!!111ONE ONE!" when it should be apparent to anyone that there is no value in it. Even people who find that they enjoy it for some reason, should be able to see its inadequacies. |

Hmm, yes, I see what you mean, Topace. I remember being annoyed at Harry Potter-fanatism in a similiar way when I was a teenager, but those books, as you say, were at least good.
However, I can see both good and bad things with twilight being so popular. On the up side, I consider anything that can get more people into reading a good thing. You can say whatever you want about the story being bad and such, but when you are 12-14 years old, you like other things than when you get older, and hopefully, if you continue to read, your taste in books will "improve" and get more "sophisticated" as you age. On the down side, except for it being badly written and the large fanbase gets on your pecks, from what I've heard, the story promotes sexism and girls being more of accessories to boys than being individuals. I've heard that many young girls identify themselves with whuts-er-name, the female main character, and THAT really makes me sick. Then again, those girls are probably something like twelve years old, the will hopefully wisen up as they grow older. ... And I still don't understand why being called a girl is considered an insult. |
