I'm goin' to the shootin' range Sunday, so it just made me wanna ask ya'll about guns in general. Which do you prefer, what brand, caliber, and why. XD

I prefer pistols personally, the .45 colt is my favorite. It's got that BAM punch that sends the baddie to the ground, unlike the 9mm which goes right through 'em.

@Knee of Justice: I do like guns. I have the Second Amendment, and I use it. :)

Well I've got to say I like rifles the most. Especially if you can get your hands on a fully automatic. Those things are just a blast to shoot. My experiences with guns are narrow. (under the age of being able to purchase firearms legally, look forward to the day I can use my second amendment though.)

The AK-47 is an awesome gun to shoot. It doesn't jam often and is pretty durable. The recoil isn't to bad and the accuracy is decent. I understand why its one of the most used and well known weapons.

Edit: As for pistols I like a similar gun to the glock. I forget what the name actually is so I'll just say the glock. The pistol I have shot is a very similar build the main difference that I noticed was that it was lighter and it had several safety features I liked as it would be the gun I would like to carry with a concealed weapons licenses. It wont fire unless you have a firm grip on the gun as there is a safety switch on the handle and one on the actual trigger, besides the normal safety switch. Keeping the chances for someone to accidentally shoot themselves or someone else much lower. Its concealable, light, safer then the average pistol, and accurate. I love it.

I prefer pistols shotguns and rifles generally have too much umph for me as for caliber.... I would choose the .32 since it won't break my wrist and the pistols that use that round are pretty easy to conceal.
Love me? How? They don't even know me! The idea of me they love...... isn't me.

@Iron_skull_protoss: I am fifteen years old. :)

@setsura: The AK-47 can be ran over by a truck, stuffed with dirt, and it will still shoot. I'll give the Russians that. Only problem I find with it, is it ain't that accurate. I mean, it does decent, but not like the M16. The M16 is not durable though, but it can do a FULLY auto. AK-47 is slower at unloading a clip than a M16.

@Destroyer: I do like the fact that they are concealable. But I do prefer to have a gun that has some UMPH in it. If someone tries to attack me or my family, I want to be sure the sucker goes down, then and there.

I didn't vote because it depends on what I'm doing.

If I'm hunting birds, I prefer a 20 gauge shotgun.

For self-defense I prefer a semi-auto handgun in at least 9 mm Luger or larger cartridge.

For plinking, I enjoy 22 LR rifles.

For big-game hunting, it depends on the size of the animal. For elk-sized animals, I prefer a 270 Win->30-06 SPRG minimum. For deer, a 243 Win is a really nice cartridge because it has low recoil and is a flat shooter.

There are so many fun guns out there, I can't choose just one.

Although, right now my favorite handgun is my 10mm EAA Witness.

@ZergSpawn76: I think you meant to say that your favorite cartridge is a 45 ACP, not a 45 Colt. Those are two different cartridges and the latter is an old revolver cartridge.

I too am 15 (=. Fortunately my brother has made me somewhat of a gun enthusiast. I'm what mainstream society would consider a gun nut. One of those guys who would die before they let the American Government take away the second amendment. And yeah I agree the AK isnt the most accurate gun around there. But it does decent. As for the M16, I don't actually really like the gun. I mean it is a good gun, its accurate, but it isn't durable. In a gun fight I would need to be counting on my gun surviving me diving in a ditch. Slamming myself against trees and other things that the M16 just wouldn't do well with. This is of course just what I've heard from a friend of a friend kinda thing about the M16 seeing how I've never actually handled the gun. (Would be awesome though)

@ShadowHammer: I'm glad you caught that, but no, I did not mean that. The .45 I have is a revolver, and I love it. And plinkin' with a .22 LR is always fun. And your gauge is a nice choice for birds. -high fives-

@Setsura: Kudos to you, partner! As my daddy says: "they can pry my rifle from my cold dead fingers!" XD And the M16 has almost no recoil. My God, its a nice thing to shoot, but in battle, I would prefer the AK-47, at least if I knew I was in for the long haul.

I pick others. Even though others ain't there. I perfer machine guns, you know the ones with a lot of recoil and really heavy. They also have alot of ammo and good damage. Like the m60 or the rpd.
As for the pistol, well I like the M9, its quick, effective, averagly light, small and has 15 shots.

The M9 is quite the nice pistol. A good number of shots, but the caliber just ain't doin' it for me. But hey, I ain't that picky when it comes to defendin' the folks I love. If I have to use a 9mm to protect myself, I'll use it.

My favorite weapon is defininitly the model 1887. its a old weapon but still used today in certain militia forces around the globe. the range is surprisingly well and can still put a huge hole in any idiot stupid enough to screw with you!

Ah, I didn't realize you were comparing a revolver cartridge to a pistol cartridge. In that case, I would pick a 357 Magnum rather than a 9mm. Revolvers allow for different cartridge choices. Generally speaking, with semi-auto pistols you are picking greater capacity over power. With revolvers, you get less capacity, but can pack more punch per shot. Of course, that all depends on the cartridge you choose. There are poor cartridges available in both types of firearms. Or you can get the best of both worlds and get a 10 mm Auto. The power of a 357 Magnum in 15+1 semi-auto pistol! :)

I like the 20 gauge for shotguns because it packs enough oompf to take down most things, but doesn't have the recoil of a 12 gauge. Low-power 12 gauge rounds aren't too bad either.

Dog guns.
Sure magnums are great but I like to do thing quick. Damage can wait.
I also like the desert eagle, it strong, automatic and quick. It can be compared with a magnum any day.
I also like the m4. Come on you can fit almost anything on it. Its great for speed, ok for damage and can reload quite easily.
PS. My friend was telling me about a pistol that has a burst mode (yes, a burst mode). I forgot the name but I still remember that its a glock, maybe it isn't, but still if you know the name than tell me.

No, I don't know of that "burst pistol", but I sure would like to get my white redneck hands on one of 'em! I am a "Gun History Buff" mainly. I LOVE old weapons, especially WWI and WWI ones.

Beretta is pretty decent since I'm sure you'll never have to face body armored, carbine wielding people.

My favorite rifle/carbine right now is the HK 416. Too bad the US is too cheap to replace the M16/M4.
