Funny question about my nickname

Are you know someone with first name 'richmond'? :)
I often use this nickname as registration name on forein (relative to my country) sites and always wondering why is it still avaliable to use. There is no chance to have name like elvis@gmail.com (even superelvis123@gmail.com), for example. But 'richmond' is very often freely avaliable. That name dont used in Urkaine at all (because we use Cyrillic alphabet instread of Roman), so I dont know its meaning. And my question: is anybody here know why english-speaking people dont use 'richmond' as a nickname? Is it strange or stupid or something else? :) |

I commend you for a decent attempt at the english language. Only had to read it twice, but since it's me we're talking about - that's a good thing.
I think the reason is because Richmond is more of a 'last' name. People dont wish to associate their primary legal identifier with what's essentially an anonymous form of communication. So even if there was a 'Richmond' as it where, the chances they'd use their last name as a nickname would be slim.

Not just that, but most people don't have normal nicknames anyway. For example, in an online game, you are more likely to see somebody named "irzawesome" than say, Jack. Look at the posters so far too, Chsal and Rahnzan.

In Australia, Richmond is not a person's name but rather the name of small towns. I used to work in retail, and I used to serve customers and always need to get the personal detail as part of my work. I served thousands of customers of the years (7 years in retail), and I think I may have come across that name once (if Im remembering correctly).

That's because the founder of those towns have the last name richmond. |

My screen name isn't something I'd call a nickname, a nickname is a pet name, a name friends give you. Rahnzan is a screenname to me.
I've got a few nicknames from that. Ran, Ron, Rahn (between the 'a' vowel and the 'o' vowel) Zan, Zahn, Zon, Raisin, at least when spoken. I prefer either the Rahn or Zahn nicks myself. I've even been called Blood for my preference to the color red. I had a friend in Japan who would call me Moon.

Not true. Many of them were named after towns and counties in England. Richmond is also the name of a suburb which has a popular AFL team. |

Uhm, what's so special or worthy of talking about your nickname? Did I miss something here or did this guy seriously just make a topic about himself and only himself? I feel as if I should lock this. Waste of our time.

I just asked question about meaning of my nickname because I dont have another way to know it. You may think it's strange, but it isnt for a non-english speaking person like me :) Why did I post here but not somewhere else? There is no difference for me if the forum is in English :) I'm sorry if I have done someting against the rules. |
