While information continues to be scarce, Zhydaris, the new CM on the Battle.net forums, has graced us with a few interesting details.First, he confirmed that the minimap ping feature is indeed in StarCraft II:

It is not much, but at least it is something to sink your teeth in. I find the comment regarding Force Fields to be most interesting. It makes me wonder whether worker drilling is possible in SC2. Also, I moved this thread using IE and I cannot believe it worked without bugging out. o.O |

Well, I guess it's not yet. The research upgrades are supposed to be seen in Hyperion Laboratory section and there hasn't been any released videos about the Lab and research upgrades so far. I think all we have had is just an old screenshot below

Nice Blizzard is giving us some more scraps to feed on. Like hungry dogs we are. Like cats we pounce of every bit of information we can get.
I wonder what this new UI will look like.

Cool, thanks for the... update. At least theres some information. Also, was not everyone assuming that ping would be in SC2? That would be pretty stupid of them to take it out. That's almost like taking the Marine out of the game.

I completely forgot what UI means. AI is artificial intelligence so what does UI stand for in this situation?
Other n that it looks mighty fine, although I couldn't see not including ping, I thought we were already told about the banelings and the force field thing was obvious in the battle report 3. Point of post: read my Q and ty Tom this is nice of you mate :)

UI = user interface
so it just means that they changed the way it looks with different buttons / colors or whatever. |

A tiny morsel to awaken a slumbering stomach is only going to make the hunger worse.
I'm curious about the UI though and if there'll be any "before and after" to compare with to see the changes. As for blocking the workers, I wouldn't have expected anything less. |

The ping is a huge strategic advantage to have in team games. I never thought they would carry this over from WC3 but I am really glad they did. I played SC.BW for 10 years but never payed attention to this feature. Was it in the game or not, I can't remember!

yeah liking the fact they incorporated the ping in sc2, and alot of other things ilike automatic mining from command centre, pre building after mineral run, then auto casting back to mine and building grouping like 2 barracks to number (2) with holding shift then cntrl + 2.
i've been playing wc3 since 2003 on bnet, and trying to play sc is a very different without having those features. only played SC a bunch of times but working on getting better thanks for the info on those great news! |

Well, buttons, bars, labels, panels are all just part of the UI. They just represent the basic controls of the system. More accurately, the user interface shows the interaction between the human and the machine( or computer) which means that there will be lots of input/output operations involved. I think the reason why Blizzard is working on UI improvements is to provide a more satisfactory system usability as well as to give users better gaming experiences which are both very essential to the product quality. Hopefully there will be some screen shots relating to the new UI later on. Look forward to it. Quotations"I hunger for battle... I fear no enemy! For the Khala is my strength! I fear not death.
