Astronomy Picture Of the Day (APOD) | Jan 20th, 08:40am | |
|
I'm taking an astronomy class this semester for my school, and the first day my teacher told the class about APOD (Astronomy Picture Of the Day). Nasa has been posting the most impressive astronomy related picture they find every day for about 20 years, and the archives are fully accessible. Some of the picture are absolutely amazing (yes, I am aware that some astronomy pictures with invisible light are artificially colored.) I thought you nerds would appreciate this.

But alas, firefox doesn't know how to open that address QQ Edit: Ah, now it works. Thanks :P |

wow.. the eclipse over the Poseidon temple is simply EPIC, prodigious. Few pictures out there would match that level of actual beauty.
Thank you so much man. Edit: The roll cloud over Uruguay got me speechless...

Very cool, we 'nerds' humbly thank you for posting :p. I think my favorite picture is the one of the Orion Nebula.

Beautiful pictures Roland thanks for posting. I have seen a number of these already, but with such a large number there are some many I have not. By the way I have an uncle who is an astronomer and astronomy professor which is one reason why I have seen a number of them already(his favorite at least).

I find auroras to be simply fascinating to look at, especially the one over Alaska, even though I never seen one with my own eyes.
Good find Roland!

I used to look at the NASA pictures of the day once a week about 5 or 6 years ago. I got tired of looking at them after so many pictures.

I'm really not sure if it's a good or bad thing that my initial reaction on some of these is that it's just like a video game...

I find astronomy really cool. There's just an indescribable beauty to the objects in the universe. I was thinking astrophysics?
