Starcraft 2 Armory - Unofficial Starcraft 2 Fansite

Seems the SC2 team has renamed the Disruptor (or Nullifier) to Sentry, and have given it a new model. Personally I think Sentry sounds like a great name for what it does and I think the model is pretty tight.

Was that the Disruptor? If so then WOW that looks really cool now(sounds Protossy).

They copied the name of one of Silent's Xel'Darri units. DX

But on focus, the unit looks really cool.

The name seems to be an improvement...

And so does the model (but i look forward to even more changes).

Yes definitely! The name nullifier had too many syllabus however, I associate the word Sentry to Terran race for some reason...

The old nully looked more of a zerg unit; it would move its body like a worm. This new body is definitely a protoss unit. The blue sphere in the rear looks like a reactor that powers the ship. I bet it does terrible, terrible damage

Yes...I got lazy and started playing a LOT of League of Legends. :( You're not the only one on my case about not having put out commentaries in a little while, lol. Honestly at this point, I'm basically waiting for beta to come out (yes yes I KNOW it could still be a while). Maybe one of these nights I can put LoL aside for the night (*twitch*) and do a SC Noobentary instead. Just realized I made a funny...seeing as I mostly play Twitch, haha.

And Silent Xel'Darri copied the name from X-Men. And X-Men copied the name from the dictionary.

Seriously, the word 'sentry' is way too common to complain about someone 'copying' it. Why don't you complain about 'medic', 'marine', 'vulture', 'reaper', 'zealot', 'stalker', 'templar', 'scout', 'phoenix', or 'overlord' being reused? Reaper is the main enemy in Mass Effect! They must have copied it! Templar is a class in Dragon Age: Origins! It must have been copied!

Anywho, I thought that the Disruptor/Nullifier looked a little strange. I thought it was more that I was looking at it too soon and it'd receive an update to it's lighting and detail. I didn't expect an entirely new model! The Sentry looks pretty sweet, though it'd be nice to see a screenshot of it in game.

It would be great if it used those claws to attack with instead of that horrible purple laser. I dont know why, but it reminds me of raspberry yoghurt!

Super sweetness! It's always cool to see a new change in art every now and then. While not every new change in model art is the best, this one actually looks pretty good. I just hope the Sentry's role is either the same or has a more refined, concrete, and improved role than before.

Thanks for posting this news and let's hope we see a new model for the lurker. I know that there are Starcraft fans who are not very impressed with the current one.

Informative. Good post and pic. Name sentry? Reminds me of the deleted sentry guns scene in the Aliens movie. That was awesome.

Looks great... my only concern is whether it should be tier 1 or not. It seems to come out fairly early in the battle reports. The forcefield ability wreaks havok on any early zerg attacks. This unit is merciless as support against the swarming abilities of the zerg. There are no attack air units at the early stages. The protoss can just park a couple of these and ranged units at their choke point and stop all rushes.
Anyways... just a thought.

Perfect design! Now I can associate TF2 content with SC2 more ^-^!
