Well, this sounds a bit more like an evolved command and conquer concept than starcraft (nice though).
The idea seems logical and has "flavor"(hi mezzer) but u might want to refer to mezzer tutoring me about flavor vs starcraft game dynamics in my "Energy vs Cooldown Issues" post |

It's not good enough if the Civilian isn't able to capture Zerg and Protoss buildings. But the protoss buildings are too complex and the Zerg isn't capturable at all.
Maybe we can change the idea a little? There could be a Terran unit with cloak (like the Ghost) that is able to enter any buildings (like the Queen) and deactivates them, couldn't it? Thats not too complicated, though it uses different strategies against the different races: -Vs Terran: Viruses! -Vs Protoss: Break the crystals! -Vs Zerg: Put a syringe in it! A worker from the current race could be able to fix their buildings' damages caused by the Civilians. The civilian could be able to put a small sensor that provides some vision. That would be more fun than Mind Control! Yay!

Its a nice idea, but not for the starcraft world... its too much CnC also, anyways moved to the collection.

Cool idea but It would be impossible to balance, wouldn't this only work for Terran vs Terran? Unless the created a special drone that the Zerg could use to infest other Zerg buildings, and the same thing for the protoss. However this might be fun for the campaigns.

No, aside from the imba, it is a hallmark feature of Command & Conquer.

I voted no. First, they could only hijack terran buildings? What about the other races? It would be weird if they could hijack toss & zerg structures.
Then comes the low-skilled strategy from C&C of loading a bunch of hijackers into a vehicle, sneaking into enemy territory and capturing the enemies buildings so easily. There may be some interesting strategies though if hijackers are produced during mid-game after constructing an advance building or upgrade. Also if they had some creative ability against the zerg and toss which I can't seem to think of. Like maybe being able to tame a lone zergling haha. |

Good Idea, but the whole capturing buildings and Alien races would make SC2 seem too much like Command & Conquer series...and I think Blizz's aiming for originality and creativity. hijacking's creative but It's been done in so many other games that it's getting more than a little bit annoying.

Hijacking should only be allowed for UMS maps, and that would probably be through the use of locations and triggers.

Say there is a fast but extremely weak in HP and no direct damage weapon (i.e. a sped up Civilian). This unit can hijack buildings, taking more of these units to capture a building in order of importance (for example, a Command Center would take much more time than a Supply Depot).
The only way to stop a hijacking to happen while it is in place is by garrisoning infantry in the building in question in a 2 to 1 ratio (searching for hijackers inside a building requires lots of infantry to clear rooms one by one). Also, if there are more hijackers in a building than the minimum needed, it would speed up the capture time.
This could take a crucial part in TvT, because when a base is captured there is often a wholesale destruction of Factories, Starports, and Barracks involved. With hijackers involved, efficiency is saved by capturing Command Centers already in place at an expansion spot, and money need not be wasted by purchasing new Factories or Supply Depots.
The name for these specialists would be "Field Technicians".
