Should unlimited unit selection stay?

This is here primarily due to the fact that large scale battles are now in, and so I'm pretty sure that it isn't going anywhere, nor should it.

This UI mechanic has been in Age of Empires/ Rise of Nations for while. Units are "summarized" in the Unit Dashboard -- say 14 soldiers are displayed in one icon, then the number 14 on it. This implementation is not fit for Starcraft II.
They should allow selection of mulitple units, but do not summarize them. I still want to be able to see and access each unit, and view their status. Including this feature is ok, as long as the Unit Dashboard will still be usable. This means it will still be limited, but it can be more than 12. |

i always thought that only being able to select twelve requried players to get mored skilled and required the use of group mapping. i like the idea of unlimited selection but it will take away from that skill that was in the first sc.

I wish that even if unit selection stays 12 per group,
I could use the Numlock Keys 0-9 for groups 11 to 20. The Number Keys above QWERTY will be for groups 1-10. |

i always use to use Hotkeys because i massed hydras like crazy, and i'd always have like 6 or 7 groups, but with the unlimited sellection it'll be easier to attack bases with fleets... because if you have 24 tempest (carriers) and then 28 soul hunters, that sucks make 4 groups and clicking 1, then attack here, 2 attack here, and so on...
i personally think this is a plus as well :D |

Besides, if you want, you can always split the larger groups into smaller ones, so I really don't see a down side to this.

Well multiple groups allow you to target different units and paths.
But groups will still be in even if its unlimited selection.

i agree that the units shouldn't be summarized and also that limiting selection to 12 makes micro harder. I say stay with 12. Don't get me wrong...i'd love mass selection especially for those ums maps...but it just takes away from the challenge i think
