Should the Jackal attack while moving?

I think the idea of the Jackal attacking on the move is an excellent idea. Even though it is not the best of the new units in SC2, it should still be potent against some units. The Thor turns extremely slowly, so this unit would be an excellent counter to a large battalion of Thors. Without this ability the Jackal is basically a useless unit.

Undecided. While it would definitly improve the Jackal, its attack would need to be changed in order to not do splash damage and/or not take shape in the form of a line. With splash damage and a line attack, the Jackal would be as much of a hazard to itself and friendly units as it would be for the enemy.

Yes it should. It is the replacement for the cobra and I kinda like the concept. Firing while on the move will make it suit its role better as the Terran light vehicle and it will complement its low hp. I m not sure about its firing animation (the flame thrower) however. I think it should shoot something else.

Good point. Sounds very nice. But wasn't the Cobra practically the same unit as the Jackal except with the Rail Guns and it hovered (or something to that effect)? Also originally the Cobra engaged other units while moving (As seen in the first Terran demo I belive). So what is the difference between this idea coming to Blizzards drawing board and the unit that is in Blizzards trash can (Cobra)? It seems only the name, design, and armaments. The ability will be the same, giving the Jackal no different feel from the Cobra, thus giving Blizzard no reason to have scrapped the unit.

Well if the jackal will fire moving ,in reality at the speed of the jackal, the flame will not go at large distances ,because of the speed ,because the wind from the speed that is coming from the front of jackal will simply make the fire to spread at small distances,Not at 6 range.Sow i practically say to make a comeback of the cobra because it requires with 25 min and 25 gas more than jackal and has 130HP.And the jackal will be good vs thor????Pls the jackal has 75 HP if theyre are 3 thor or even 2, 2 shots and bye bye jackal, and they have splash, plus when you see fire destroyng the whole neosteel that the thor has????Fire is good vs organic units but vs mechanic units...it's usseles. And if you looked at the terran demo from 5 or 6 cobras that where attacking the thor 3 died.Sow with 75 HP you need 12 jackals or even more, because of the poor HP and poor damage it can't stand a chance vs mechanic units.Sow i maked a topic at terran forum with cobra.Cobra comeback pls it's better than jackal

For the love of..... People the Jackal doesn't have a flamethrower it has a rail gun. The screenshots you have seen does not do justice to the attack animation of the jackal.

You do know they could have changed that between batch 31 and 42 they could have changed Jackal at least seven times.
I thought what I'd do was, I'd pretend I was one of those deaf-mutes. Or should I?

At the moment this unit does not fare well when alone or with other Jackals, but when it is combined with other infantry or vehicles it slaughters Zergs, and some protoss Ground. To make this unit more effective, do you think it should be able to attack enemies while it is moving?
Imagine zerglings or zealots chasing down a single Jackal, but they are getting slaughtered by the flames while it is running away.
