I agree, I only wish the Colossus didn't suck so much. Blizzard should even out the capabilities between the Immortal and Colossus to make them both evenly awesome.

totally...the colossus is nothing more than a big towering fodder....lacks health compared to earlier versions (can you see how fast they get destroyed in demos?) and also very crappy attack (can you also see that they barely destroy any unit before they get pulverized to blue wisps?)

agree... colossus is a joke

i was like... wtf huh? o.O as i watching that vid... seeing how completely useless the colossus is

i knew it since long long time ago that the colossus was rubbish... i was right all along

reaver ftw!

Phoenix - D
Stats via Game Guide

With the removal of the Overload ability, the Phoenix has now become a useless air-superiority fighter for the Protoss. The new ability that the Phoenix wields is Anti-Gravity, which allows the Phoenix to immobilize and cast a ground unit as an air unit, yet at the same time the Phoenix becomes immobilized itself. That makes no sense if you think about it because the Phoenix only targets air units but is immobilized during the Anti-Gravity spell. The Phoenix has a decent attack damage and flies extremely fast through the skies.

I wouldn't say that the Phoenix is nonsense. What about numbering a group of 20 phoenixes into 2 groups instead? Eight in the first, 12 in the second. With the first group, you anti-grav ground units, with the second group you attack the anti-grav-ed units.

Oh... Then you could mass up Phoenixes and use only them!

the three of the four (void ray) coolest new units (in my opinion) of the protoss now totally became craptastic

i know that some back-up phoenix may attack anti-graved units but the point here is that phoenixes are air superiority fighters for crying out loud...they were not specially made to become casters that tactically lift units then other back up phoenix will attack...if they plan to make the caster-like role of phoenix as it is now, then they must introduce a new air superiority fighter that will do its job properly and not deviate

and the colossus...it terribly sucks, really i know things has to go through balancing but what they have done is overkill...if they really want it to have that small hp and shields, then at least increase its damage by 10 or more or vice versa...and though its bonus against shielded units is supported by lore (it being an aeon of strife weapon), it would have made more sense if it dealt bonus damage to light units to at least make up for its low health

i heard the mothership is still useful somehow but she still can not support her own name, a few yamato and missile pods will probably take her down since she is slow and her overall health (with shields) has been decreased by 30% (1200>800)...her abilities also somehow overlap

That provides a lot of micro, and a lot minerals/gas. It's not worth the expenses.

yep....not worth it...besides phoenixes are great only for small units and not ideal for large ones, even the anti-graved ones (i.e., ultralisks and thors)

Miles and I are doing the Zerg together. Miles is a lazy ass, so it will be a week at the least before he decides to actually write the articles. :P

Nah jk... 2 days at the least. ^^ oi

Most of you may be aware that Miles and I attended BlizzCon 08. My favorite race just so happened to be the Protoss which is why I was appointed and chose this assignment. The information I will be telling you will hopefully answer any questions you may have in mind.

Mothership - A
Stats via Game Guide

The Mothership; It's name represents superiority. This aerial city is a highly recommenced unit to bring into any battle because it will never let you down. With high HP and shields, and high attack damage, the Mothership is capable of much more. The proper use of a Mothership requires much micro mainly because it's a precious unit and it has a large verity of abilities. As Vortex remains an offensive ability, Cloaking Field and Timebomb are a defensive ability.

I used this unit a couple of times during the demo, it never let me down.

With the reaver gone and replaced with the Colossus, which supposedly sucks, do the protoss have any serious heavy support units on the ground (other than the archon at least)? I was also wondering, How good is the stalker against ground defenses? Thanks.

i think they have smart casting, don't they? in other words, you hit the spell once, and it only does it once. you don't have to select an individual unit. Yes, i'm almost certain they have this feature. no need to split your phoenixes up. And this new ability will come in handy ~if you happen to have a bunch of phoenixes already~. It will not be something you aim for alone. It will allow the phoenix to be built as an air superiority fighter without sacrificing ~all of your ground superiority~; something which basically left the terran valkyrie virtually unused in starcraft1, not because it was a bad unit, but because you just HAD to retain that ground power. If you don't remember, in ladder games (...the real games), the scout was also virtually unused. The corsair was used often, though, for its speed and its special abilities. Now, I do think the overload ability MIGHT of been overpowered, and that is why it has been removed. All this said, you are underestimating the tactical usefulness of this anti-gravity ability, particularly in taking out retreating units. And this, again, will not be something you start out and say... "i'm going phoenixes, for anti-grav". It will be like... "i just countered all those vikings with these phoenixes, and luckily I'm not about to get my ass run over cuz I got anti-grav". Overload was attempting to say ..."well, you don't need many of these for air superiority, if you use them right".

know its been said 1 thousand times but srsly Collosus has become a walcking target with no weapons or defence, anyone remember the first protos demo, back when the collosus actually seem to rape any ground unt, some units need more cowbell, I mean it
