Believe it or not, I actually am still trying to get start on an article inspired by the opening cinematic we saw at Blizzcon, concerning Kerrigan vs. Zeratul. It's not easy though given the truly absurd amount of possibilities, and my attempts at keeping it from becoming too much speculation and not enough fact.
The point of this thread though is for if and when I do get it out I'd prefer not to have to explain the background too much and subsequently keep it from being as absurdly long as my Diablo article. So I'm asking you all to get any questions about the lore, or story of it out of the way right now, I'll also probably do very short little blurbs about specific subjects every couple days for as long as I see fit in here to give you guys some subject matter to discuss. |

no one knows how the Xel-Naga look like. maybe the Naga part can be like the Warcraft 3 The Frozen Throne Naga. partly human and partly fish... although i wouldn't discribe them as a mermaid...
the only building i know by hearth is the Xel-Naga watch tower. which still doesn't give me any other idea of how the Xel-Naga look, or their buildings. an observatory mostly looks different from "normal" buildings so... |

Allow me, this subject has been very throughly examined in other topics, this one appears to be the most relevant, and instead of rewriting the whole thing, I'll just link it for you. http://www.sc2armory.com/forums/topic/4247/page:1 I think that answers your question. |

You aren't alone there, omega. :O GASP! Blizzard could bring the Archangel of Justice to PWN the zerg swarm!! That would be both sad, and totally epic at the same time.

You are correct, they do look just like Tyrael wings, but it's kinda hard to give a semi-humanoid creature tentacles in a wing pattern and it not look like Tyrael. The arrangement which makes it look even more like Tyrael may be deceptive though, as the whole carving is apparently designed for symmetry so it's only natural that the tentacles would be spread out in that pattern. |

I doubt Zeratul's spent years searching for the secrets of the galaxy and ended up in a giant artificial cavern possibly millions of lightyears away from Zerus (Zerg homeplanet) or Aiur and found a giant cave carving depicting boot races accurately where Kerrigan was apparently waiting for him to look at some alien artist's composite sketch of a Xel'naga. |

I think it was the Xel'naga, I was doing research on the cavern it is placed in and it looks just like their style of architecture. No other known race builds like that, nor do any other races know of the Xel'naga, Protoss and Zerg (Terran don't count, at best only a few researcher and leaders from SC 1 even know the Xel'naga exist.) Unless it's Duran's home planet or something totally unpredictable like that, which is purely speculative. The Xel'naga may have done it for something of the same reason that Egyptian Pharaoh tombs were covered with hieroglyphs of all the battles they've won and whatnot. That's my best guess is that it's almost like an ornamental method of storytelling, like if a Chinese emperor had a bunch of calligraphy all around his palace it would qualify as decoration, but the calligraphy itself would be telling a story about some battle or something. |
