Despite of knowing already the answer, answer 4 made me thinking about the costs of an archon.

2xHT = 100min 300gas
2xDT = 250min 200gas
1xHT&1xDT = 225min 250gas

isnt this unbalanced??
Btw: Archons Feedback ability has been removed??

and i got other questions:

can units lifted by Phoenix still attack (range&melee) or even move or are they imo?
When introducing the anti-gravity abbility Dustin even talked about strategies lifting up alllied banelings for mass air overkill, but this does appertntly not fit to what I've seen.

the mobility of the collossus, can it still walk 'above' allied units or does it need its own space?

are ghosts the weakest caster? is the snipe ability useful against zerg??
did you see snipes/EMPs/nukes out of bunkers?

thank you for all the information you shared

lol i guess ill just ask once again....

are nydus worms mobile after deployment and can you see nydus worms under water or through gaps of space when they go to the destination or are they not a unit at all?

Why do people in page 2 keep saying they prefer to use phoenix/void ray combo against an ultralisk? Are Graviton Beams capable of lifting heavy/massive/large ground units now?

You know, this issue with the Archon got me thinking aswell.
I think you could (if this all is true) choose your strategy how you get to Archons.

When you'd have lot's of Minerals and little gas, then you would choose Dark Templar (if they aren't more in handy the way they are.
Otherwise, you could go for High Templars, or combos...

However, I suppose it could also work considerably easy when you would end up with few Templar heavily hurt....

I think, if all this would turn out to be true, it would provide ingenius strategies...

3) Have there been any changes to the ultralisk, and did you get to play them and test how effective they are?
Unbelievably effective. For fun I massed 15 Archons (I have a screenshot) against my friends 4 Ultralisks. He nearly took out half of my army, and that was without the Cleave ability. They are deadly unless you have high damage output units or disablers like Graviton Beam.

So does that mean the graviton beam works on massive units as well or were you just using it as an example?

Hey Gearvosh,

1 quick question. Did you try or see anyone try to blink across the destructable rocks with the stalker?

nice catch. i wonder if the developers have thought of this...

Unless Miles confirms this, the beam can't lift up massive units last time we checked. Even in the latest gameplay video you can see the Phoenix lifting Roaches and NOT the more dangerous Ultralisks who were only "disabled" by the Mothership's cloaking of everything on the ground and the mass of Warp Rays beating them up fast. In this regard Miles is right that the best counter is air to ground attackers like this.

What if the Phoenix could lift massive but at a higher energy cost (and/or have an upgrade to allow lifting those units). Since the Phoenix is massable though it might be a bit too much of a counter.

Why is the Archon warp unbalanced? It's up to YOU to decide how you make them. If you have a wounded DT and a HT with no energy (or another weak DT) I think you'd rather sacrifice them than 2 High Templar you really need and that are full of energy. It's just an extra OPTION given to you. I see no problem.

I'm fearing if Archons are weak based on your account of so many versus the ultralisks. I'm not about to cry "OP" though, I'm sure it all works out.

Got the screenshot so we can see it, Miles?

I think it's interesting that because of the void ray/phoenix combo (theoretically) it would seem like the other races would be forced to develop a sort of a-a defense since graviton beam would seem to disable any g-a defense. I guess marines could theoretically counter it, but this if for no other reason makes me glad that the zerg now have corruptors.

all i'm saying is that if you want archon, feasibly there is a cheaper way to do it with different combinations of ht and dt, since their costs are different. in the case of the aforementioned quote, i suppose 2 dt's would be cheapest.

I honestly dont remember if Graviton Beam works on heavy units, I believe it can because the Queen is sort of a heavy unit.

And also in the gameplay video, the Phoenix didnt graviton it simply because the ability was still on cooldown.

We do know that the Gravitron Beam works on Queens and Siege Tanks, but neither is classified as a "massive" unit. If it holds true that massive cannot be lifted, it means that Colossus, Ultras, and Thors are immune (except the Colossus is still vulnerable to AtA anyway).

@Nimadude: animation is going to still be tweaks, no point in worrying about that yet. Just look at the huge flaw of the Immortal's walk animation (or lack of it).

@Gear: There was a huge amount of Phoenix and those that did use the ability focused only on roaches when an Ultralisk is a much higher value target. It made no sense to lift a roach instead of an Ultra if it were possible.
Still, I grant the possibility that the player just screwed up royally and could have lifted them up.

@Chickenm4n: The DT archon could be considered cheaper unless you have an excess of vespene in which case HTs would be much "cheaper" in comparison. I like the fact that you have a choice now, even if it's sad to see the Dark Archon go.
